HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT SPECTACLE FRAME BY FACE SHAPE?
Choosing frames for spectacle is not a one-size-fits-all matter. Aside from function, face shape and features are important determining factors that affect how a frames look on your face. A spectacle may look perfect on one person and look totally out of place on another.
Oval
This is the ideal face shape due to its symmetry. The best frames are those that span (at least) the widest part of the face.
Heart-shaped (base-up triangle)
This shape is wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. Frames that have a wide bottom help offset the narrowness of the lower face.
Oblong
A face with an oblong shape has a length that is roughly double its width. Frames that are “longer” than they are wide match this face shape best.
Square
With the jaw and forehead having roughly the same width, a square face is best complemented by narrow frames. These frames add length to the face and soften its angles.
Diamond
Wide, distinct cheekbones, a narrow forehead, and a narrow jaw line characterise a diamond-shaped face. To balance out the facial features, oval or cat-eye frames are best.
Round
With smooth lines that make the width and length of the face essentially the same, a round face needs frames that add angles and length. Narrow, rectangular, and rimless frames suit round faces well.
Base-down triangle
This face shape is wide at the bottom and narrow at the top. A frame that highlights the upper face looks best. Frames with tops that are decorated and heavily coloured suit this face shape.
